Lake Hartwell Real Estate News: Tom Miller

Running To Wine (not whine)

Just a few weeks after the Hartwell Dam Run, local runners have another shot at conquering the terrain at The Crusher (12k/6k/1 mile) Trail race at Yonah Mountain Vineyards in Cleveland, GA just north of Lake Hartwell.  The trail is a mixed surface, circling through the vineyards and ending at the winery.  Click here to see a video of the full course.  Adult runners of age are treated to a glass of wine at the conclusion of the race.  If you like wine, but not running, check out all other opportunities to enjoy the winery here.

Help Lucille find her spot on the lake

This is Lucille.  She saw this video of Diesel enjoying the lake and got a little sad.  She wants to find her own spot on the lake.  Every year, Keller Williams Realty sponsors "Red Day".  Red Day is a day that KW associates set aside to give back to the community.  This year, we are supporting Hart County Animal Rescue who is sponsoring an adoption event on Thursday afternoon between 3:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. at the Tractor Supply Company in Hartwell.  Lucille is available for adoption along with other great pets.  And if you don't have a chance to get by today, you can contact the Animal Rescue center here.

Q1 2018 Lake Hartwell Market Update

Graph showing first quarter 2018 market statistics

69 homes and 14 vacant lots were sold at Lake Hartwell in the first quarter of 2018.  These results are very close to the number of sales in the first quarter of 2017.  The average lot price was down slightly to $126k, and the average home price was up slightly to $383k.  Our team has 43 clients sold or under contract already this year, so we are doing our part to help keep things moving.  Available inventory for lots and homes remains steady as many sellers have elected to list their properties to take advantage of the active spring season.  Our team has listed 34 properties already this year.

More Cows Are Coming

We have our share of cows who live in the Lake Hartwell area, but some famous cows will be joining us soon. One of our favorite fast-food restaurants, Chick-fil-A, will be opening at Exit 173 in Lavonia. The restaurant is already under construction on the north side of I-85 near Hill's Exxon, Zaxby's and J. Peters.  I am looking forward to taking full advantage of their great food and fantastic service just as soon as they are able to open. And Chick-fil-A's commitment to our area usually means that other popular restaurants may be considering nearby locations.  Three moo's for Chick-fil-A!

Pin Your Cheeks Back

I'm not sure if the Miss America IX is going to be at this year's Antique Boat Festival, but if she isn't, there will be plenty more boats to look at.  The festival will be held at Hartwell Marina from April 19th to 22nd.  For details click here, and to take a virtual test ride that will pin your cheeks back, check out this video.  Don't forget to save time to let us help you find your spot on the lake.

You can lead a horse to water...

I get calls every once in a while for lakefront acreage that would be suitable for horses.  At Lake Hartwell, the Corps of Engineers controls the property immediately surrounding the lake, so it is not possible to allow your horses to make their way to the lake on their own.  I just listed this 5 acre lakefront tract in Franklin County with full access to the lake for you or your horses.  Not many of us knew there was another lake in Franklin County.  (In full disclosure, the photo above is not of the subject property, but you can click here for the photos and details.  The lake property we are selling is much prettier.)

Leadbetter double downs with Michelle Wie

Earlier this month, golf pro, David Leadbetter, placed a side-bet of "substantial value" with Michelle Wie to keep her from tinkering with her swing which he had just fine-tuned to compensate for some injuries.  (Video here).  You can find out all about it on April 8th and catch the final round of the Masters when Leadbetter hosts a dinner party at our very own Cateechee Golf Club in Hartwell.  For all the details click here, and don't forget to save some time to let us help you find your spot on the lake.

Over 143,000 fans came to Lake Hartwell last week to attend the 48th Bassmaster Classic.  Jordan Lee became the second angler ever to win the tournament two years in a row.  See his final final weigh-in here, and for some inside tips for you fishermen, check out his set-ups from his win last year.  We are proud that the tournament directors have selected Lake Hartwell three times for its Superbowl of Bass Fishing, and we look forward to hosting the tournament again soon.  Our data projects that about 1% of those fans should purchase their own spot on the lake.  That should keep us busy the next couple of weeks.
