When I am out on the boat with clients looking at properties, I frequently get asked about the grey granite rock on the shoreline. This rock is called rip rap and it protects the shoreline from erosion. The Corps of Engineers doesn’t install it adjacent to private property, but they do allow property owners to install it with the proper permitting. One of my clients hired Kroeger Marine to install rip rap at their lot, and I went by this week to check the progress. One of the extra perks of getting rip rap is that any trees that are at the water’s edge that have roots exposed can be removed, thus improving the view from your home. Reply to this note or contact Kroeger directly if you would like to consider this for your property.
